The Pacific Credit Union Technical Congress aim is to support and grow the credit union movement in the Pacific region to increase knowledge and resources and to strengthen and build community based financial service organisations, to provide sustainable and accessible financial services and support communities to grow and prosper into the future.
This year’s Congress has a focus on developing the knowledge base and skills of the emerging Credit Union movement in the Pacific region. The Congress is a platform for mutual learning and sharing of information, knowledge and experience. The Congress brings together credit unions movements, their leagues, federations and government regulators from the Pacific region, Australian and USA credit union movements.
The Congress is jointly hosted by OCCUL, the Fijian Credit Union League, CUFA and World Council of Credit Unions.
The congress will:
- Promote staff knowledge exchange to support the long-term sustainability of the credit union movement
- Provide skills based workshops aimed at cooperation and information exchange
- Include a range of workshops on current specific issues relevant to the mutual sector
- Provide the opportunity for mutual learning between developed and developing credit union staff
Who attends:
Credit union professionals from Australia, the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Timor Leste, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, New Zealand, the United States of America and Vanuatu have come together to share knowledge and benefit from this unique insight and experience.

While exploring the unique challenges of the Pacific credit union movement, participants benefit from a return to the basics of cooperative and financial principles; an important platform for emerging credit union movements to acquire the necessary skills to efficiently serve the needs of their members.
The Managers Certification Program is an intensive two-year course for credit union managers and aspiring managers and forms part of the Congress agenda. This program will again be held in 2012 and participants are encouraged to register.
