The Oceanic Confederation of Credit Union Leagues
Emerging Meets Developed
The Pacific credit unions, leagues and federations are at a disadvantage in comparison to their colleagues of other parts of the world.
Most credit unions in other regions have a representative body to unify and give voice to the credit unions in the region. The Oceanic Confederation of Credit Union Leagues will fill that void in terms of representation and presence for the region internationally.
The Oceanic Confederation of Credit Union Leagues will create the basis for an industry body that organises, supports and represents the South Pacific leagues and federations linking all its members through a common bond of cooperation and development.
Potential membership could include Leagues and Federations from the following countries: Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. Potentially the credit union movement from Hawaii and Canada could also be considered. Membership of individual credit unions could be considered from nations without a representative body (league or federation).
The Oceanic Confederation of Credit Union Leagues is partly funded by proceeds of the annual CUFA Kokoda Challenge participant fund raising activities.
