Credit Union Insight Program

Access Program Details

In the Credit Union Movement, staff development can extend beyond management and governance practices. Insight seminars are training initiatives that provide staff with development opportunities in line with credit union values. Insight seminars communicate and promote the uniqueness of credit unions in the financial services sector. They also explain how credit unions can play a key role within the communities where they operate.

These seminars have been tailored to meet the specific needs of credit union staff. They are developed and implemented voluntarily by Development Educators who are passionate about promoting the ethos of the Credit Union Movement.

Program topics cover the structure and history of the Australian Movement, and an overview of the global credit union system. Staff participating learn about credit union values, the bigger picture and how they as individuals can make a difference. Other topics addressed within Insight seminars include: contemporary Movement issues, career development; management; motivation; and positive mental attitudes. Presenters are experienced credit union people from diverse backgrounds within the Australian Movement.

Insight Seminars are initiatives of CUFA Development Educators to further promote the unique role of credit unions. The first Insight seminar was conducted in Victoria in 1994. Since then, the seminar program has built on its success and is being replicated in other parts of Australia.

Committees managing and coordinating these weekend residential Insight seminars are currently operating in Adelaide, Ballarat, Ballina and Bowral.

CUFA is keen to support Insight by channelling credit union inquiry to the relevant committee via this web site.
