  202/2007 Preliminary Funding Overview 2008

CUFA would like to take this opportunity to thank contributors to the Grahame Mehrtens International Projects Fund and the Solomon Islands Tsunami Appeal for their support during the financial year ending June 30 2007.

There are now significantly more funds available to further enhance the Australian credit union movement’s development programs in Cambodia, Sri Lanka and the Solomon Islands.

The efforts in both Sri Lanka and the Solomon Islands following devastation from natural disasters are seeing communities being helped through re-building their credit unions.

In Cambodia, trust in the financial system is being enhanced - as is the capacity to develop competent personnel - through the Building Trust and Building Institutional Capacity programs.

On a preliminary basis, total funding for 2008 has increased 54% on 2007 funding. Increases occurred across each funding category: credit union donations (9.3%), funding agencies (147%), corporate donation (1.6%) and member/staff donations (new category).

We look forward to presenting further information about our performance over the last year - in bulletins and newsletters in July 2007.

CUFA will formally recognise supporters in through the CUFA Supporters Recognition Program in September 2007.
